U.S. jobless claims at the lowest they have been since 2022

Defying the usual economic forecasts and leaving analysts scratching their heads, U.S. unemployment claims have plummeted to their lowest level since the latter part of 2022. In a striking show of labor market strength, initial claims for unemployment benefits in the U.S. took a sharp dive, landing at 187,000 for the week ending January 13.
