Artificial intelligence-powered (AI) decentralized exchange (DEX) built on Ethereum (ETH) layer two Soneium just closed a $1 million seed funding round. According to a Jan. 21 Sonex press release, the firm closed the seed round in under 60 days. Outliers Fund and an anonymous investor co-led the funding round, which included Baboon VC, Taisu Ventures, Nonagon Capital, Flow Traders, Gate Ventures, and Lootex. Lastly, the seed round also received capital from previously announced partners. The newly raised funds will be used to further develop Sonex’s technical infrastructure and launch new features, including derivatives trading and peer-to-peer trading pools. The company will also leverage the new capital to bolster security measures and expand operational capacity to accommodate growing user demands. Lastly, new resources will also allow to better market Sonex to attract a broader user base and to research potential features and ecosystem integrations. Sonex CEO Kai explained that the project’s greatest innovation is the integration of AI-driven agents into its trading ecosystem: “It’s a strategic evolution that empowers our users to harness advanced AI capabilities for better decision-making and enhanced trading experiences. With the support of our investors, we are excited to lead the charge in making decentralized finance more dynamic and accessible”. Takashi Hayashida, Founder and Managing Partner of Taisu Ventures, said the firm is “immensely optimistic” about Soneium’s future. He was particularly impressed by the company’s innovative approach to decentralized finance, which he expects to have far-reaching implications for the industry in the future. Sonex is built on Soneium, an Ethereum layer two protocol built on Optimism Superchain software stack by the blockchain subsidiary of technology behemoth Sony. The blockchain itself just launched its main network earlier this month — meaning that early players will have an advantage in taking control over share of the new ecosystem’s value.
