The AI-driven decentralized exchange (DEX) on Ethereum's layer two, Soneium, has successfully wrapped up a $1 million seed funding round. As per a Sonex press release dated Jan. 21, the seed round concluded in less than 60 days. This funding was co-led by Outliers Fund and an undisclosed investor and saw participation from Baboon VC, Taisu Ventures, Nonagon Capital, Flow Traders, Gate Ventures, and Lootex. Additionally, previously announced partners also contributed to the round. The capital infusion will fuel the enhancement of Sonex's technical framework and the introduction of new functionalities, such as derivatives trading and peer-to-peer trading pools. The company also plans to use these funds to strengthen security measures and scale its operations to meet increasing user demands. Moreover, the new funding will support marketing efforts to broaden Sonex's user base and explore potential features and ecosystem integrations. Sonex CEO Kai highlighted that the project's standout innovation lies in integrating AI-driven agents within its trading ecosystem: “This strategic evolution empowers our users to leverage advanced AI capabilities for superior decision-making and a richer trading experience. With backing from our investors, we are eager to lead the charge in making decentralized finance more dynamic and accessible.” Takashi Hayashida, Founder and Managing Partner of Taisu Ventures, expressed strong optimism about Soneium's prospects. He was particularly impressed by the firm's forward-thinking approach to decentralized finance, predicting significant future impacts on the industry. Sonex operates on Soneium, an Ethereum layer two protocol developed on the Optimism Superchain software stack by Sony’s blockchain subsidiary. Earlier this month, the blockchain launched its mainnet , offering early participants a chance to capture value within the new ecosystem.
