Arweave sends encrypted data to the moon

Decentralized data storage company Arweave has launched its “Genesis Block” to the moon in collaboration with two other companies. Arweave ( AR ), in partnership with Iridia and LifeShup, has sent encrypted data and cryptocurrencies in a wallet on a space mission, according to a Jan. 15 press statement . The concept tapped Iridia’s synthetic DNA-based storage technology and LifeShip’s lunar landing craft to rocket Arweave’s data capsule to the moon. Founded in 2017, Arweave has sought to provide cheap permanent storage for the “world’s knowledge and history,” beginning with its Genesis Block, said Arweave CEO Sam Williams.
