Coinbase has no material exposure to Silvergate, CFO says

Coinbase ( NASDAQ: COIN ) CFO Alesia Haas on Wednesday reiterated that the cryptocurrency exchange had minimal exposure to Silvergate Capital ( SI ), which is winding down operations . "We have no material exposure to Silvergate ( SI )," Haas said in response to a question at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference . Shares of Coinbase ( COIN ) dipped 1.6% after hours on Wednesday. CEO Brian Armstrong also maintained that Coinbase ( COIN ) would benefit from increased regulatory scrutiny in recent days. "We have a role to play as the most trusted and compliant player in the space," he said. "We want to be the primary financial account for people in this crypto economy." Last week, Coinbase stopped accepting/initiating payments to or from Silvergate ( SI ) "out of an abundance of caution" .
