Coinbase to accept dogecoin for commerce payments

That adds the meme cryptocurrency that started as a joke to the handful of other cryptocurrencies that Coinbase Commerce supports — bitcoin (BTC-USD), bitcoin cash (BCH-USD), ethereum (ETH-USD), litecoin (LTC-USD), and USDC (USDC-USD). Yesterday, at the "B Word" virtual event, Elon Musk mentioned dogecoin, saying it would be ironic if the crypto that started as a joke overtakes the established cryptos. That's still a far way off. Dogecoin's market cap stands at ~$24.7B, according to CoinMarketCap, vs. $597.7B for bitcoin and $230.7B for ethereum. In crypto trading this morning, dogecoin trades at ~$0.19, bitcoin at $31.8K, ether at ~$1,970.
