Coingecko Report Crowns Memecoins as Leading Crypto Narrative in 2024

Memecoins were by far the most popular crypto narrative in 2024, capturing 14% of global investor interest, according to a recently released report by Coingecko. Besides the main meme coin narrative, four other meme coin trends made the top 20. According to the report, Solana meme coins ranked fourth with 7.7% of global investor interest, while Base meme coins, AI meme coins, and Cat meme coins ranked 11th, 15th, and 16th with 2.1%, 1.5%, and 1.2%. This brings combined memecoin interest to almost 31%, about a third of this year's crypto narrative interest, the Dec. 23. report said. It also represents an improvement in memecoin mindshare, as the category ranked third in Coingecko’s 2023 most popular crypto narratives list with 8.3%.
