Fidelity Says Ethereum Has an Edge Over Solana, Here’s Why

Fidelity Digital Asset, a subsidiary of global investment manager Fidelity Investments, has weighed in on the Ethereum (ETH) vs Solana (SOL) debate. Fidelity acknowledges Solana’s growth but favors Ethereum. Details of the Fidelity Investment Report According to its latest report, “Looking Ahead ,” Ethereum maintains a strong foundation with active developers, substantial TVL, and stablecoin supply. However, Solana is rapidly closing the gap, accelerating revenue and TVL growth. Also, Solana has garnered considerable attention and support from the crypto community over the past year. Furthermore, the report noted that most of Solana’s revenue is generated through memecoin trading, which is highly speculative. On the other hand, Ethereum’s fundamentals are less speculative, making it a better guide for long-term investors. Fidelity Shares Outlook for Digital Assets in 2025 Also, in the report authored by its research team, Fidelity identifies key trends poised to impact the cryptocurrency market in 2025. Notably, the report predicts that digital assets will increasingly be held in government reserves, a significant development for the industry. In the light of persistent inflated fiscal pressures, neglecting Bitcoin could become a greater risk than investing in it. Fidelity believes the digital asset space is on the cusp of a multi-year, possibly multi-decade expansion. This mainstream adoption will see digital assets become deeply embedded across multiple sectors, including industries, governments, and nations. For instance, nations like El Salvador and Bhutan have maintained a bullish stance on the flagship cryptocurrency. El Salvador has consistently stacked up its Bitcoin reserves . Meanwhile, Bhutan Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) has announced plans to hold Bitcoin and other digital assets as part of its reserves. Fidelity Predicts Crypto ETF Surge Furthermore, Fidelity’s outlook indicates that while digital assets make progress, their journey toward broad mainstream adoption is getting underway. The report also pointed to Bitcoin and Ethereum Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) growth. These financial instruments have simplified the process for traditional investors to access digital assets. Traditional investors can conveniently invest in digital assets through more conventional and familiar channels. In 2024, the launch of 740 ETFs saw digital asset ETFs take center stage. Among the top eight spots for inflows, Bitcoin-tracking ETFs dominated with four entries, while Ethereum-focused ETFs secured two spots.
